When You Long for Something … and Finally Achieve It

Old camera

As a child, I longed for my very own camera. At the time, Polaroids and classic film cameras were in fashion, and I would spend hours browsing catalogues, fascinated by PRACTICA, NIKON, and MINOLTA models. In elementary school, I even joined a photography club, but money was tight, and owning a camera remained out of reach.

When I moved on from elementary school, there were no more clubs, and in the countryside, there weren’t many opportunities to join a photography group. So I put my dream aside. Years later, after many other obligations and priorities, I finally bought my first real camera – a Canon EOS 300, which cost me more than an entire month’s salary. For me, it was priceless. I slowly built up more lenses and equipment, until digital photography arrived. My beloved EOS was overtaken by time, then came the first, second, third digital camera … and now, of course, smartphones capture incredible photos with ease.

I still keep my old Canon in a drawer. Every time I hold it, I feel nostalgic for the days when we shot on film, developed rolls in the darkroom, and turned them into real photographs. Today, we have more pictures than ever before – but somehow fewer memories, because the process has become so fast.

A Lesson from Photography for the Business World

Looking back, this story teaches me something important:

  • technology changes faster than we expect,
  • what feels state-of-the-art today may be obsolete tomorrow,
  • but the experience and knowledge we gain along the way remain.

Just as I had to accept that I would no longer develop films in the darkroom, companies today must accept that traditional boards and paper are no longer enough for effective communication. Nostalgia for old habits is natural, but the future constantly reminds us that we must adapt, grow, and upgrade our tools.

Boards have been with us since our first school days and have long been a powerful tool for visual communication. But digitalization brings new advantages – better traceability, greater transparency, and faster action. The transition is challenging, but inevitable.

And digitalization is not just about screens and software. It is a mindset. It is skills. It is about changing processes and workplace culture. And yes – digitalization also creates emotions. Perhaps different ones than before, but equally powerful.

This is where we come in. With our knowledge, experience, and our own solutions – Performance Storyboard® – we help companies make this transformation efficiently and with minimal stress, as they move from traditional boards to digital communication and functioning.

If you, too, long for change and want to take your company’s digitalization to the next level, get in touch with us. We’ll help turn your ambition into reality. Let your digital journey bring not only efficiency, but also new emotions, experiences, and memories.
